Saying hello in Thai became the opening line of a new chapter.
LISA released the single ‘SaWaDiKa’ on September 3, and the music video arrived a day later, on September 4, on the official channel. The title is a phonetic spelling of the Thai greeting sawatdee kha.
For a Thai artist who started in a K-pop group, putting her own language in the title is a statement in itself. The track is also the lead single from PRESS PLAY, the EP arriving in October.
What ‘sawatdee kha’ actually means
The base Thai greeting is สวัสดี (sawatdee). A politeness particle is then added depending on the speaker’s gender: ค่ะ (kha) for women, ครับ (khrap) for men.
So a woman greeting someone politely says sawatdee kha. The song title runs that pronunciation together in Latin letters. It is close to the difference between a casual and a formal hello in English: the meaning is the same, but the warmth lands differently.
In Thailand the greeting often comes with the wai, a slight bow with palms pressed together. The title alone does not show that, but it hints at how ordinary this phrase is at home.

The video was shot in Bangkok
The music video was filmed in LISA’s hometown of Bangkok and directed by Bang Jae Yeob. The track was produced by Thom Bridges with the songwriting duo Ojivolta.
What stands out is that Bangkok is not used as scenery. Asian cities are often borrowed to add an exotic surface; here the city sits closer to the starting point. The title is Thai, the location is Thai, and so is the person speaking.
2026 is the year Thailand moved to the front
Taken alone, ‘SaWaDiKa’ is one single. Lined up with the rest of the year, a direction appears.
The documentary Always Lalisa screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and opens worldwide on October 12. The EP PRESS PLAY follows on October 23: her first album-length release since Alter Ego in February 2025.
In November she opens VIVA LA LISA, a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, on November 13, 14, 27 and 28. She is the first K-pop artist to take a Las Vegas residency, and the tickets sold out in under ten minutes.
A residency is not a tour. The artist stays in one city and the audience travels, so the format usually goes to performers with a settled name. A K-pop-rooted artist entering that circuit is worth noting on its own.

People often get this part wrong. LISA’s solo music comes out through LLOUD Co., the company she founded in 2024, with RCA Records as the global label partner.
That is why the official video sits on the LLOUD channel rather than a group label’s. Knowing which channel to watch saves time when the next announcement lands.
What to watch next
Once the EP is out, it will be clearer where this track sits inside the larger project. Until then, a greeting has already said most of what the year is about.
