If you already know you will be in Seoul during Chuseok, the question is no longer whether the holiday will affect your trip. It is much simpler: Where can you actually go?
Chuseok Day falls on Friday, September 25 in 2026, and holiday events continue into the weekend. The five options below were selected with travelers in mind: their dates have been officially announced, they are reasonably accessible in Seoul, and they offer something connected to experiencing Chuseok in Korea.
1. If you choose only one: Namsangol Chuseok Festival — Namsan Dalbit Madang
During Chuseok, traditional performances, cultural activities and games take place in the same area, making it one of the easiest places for a visitor to experience the atmosphere of the holiday.

2. If you have never seen pansori: The 4th World Pansori Festival
The World Pansori Festival takes place on September 25 and 26 around Namsangol Hanok Village and Seoul Namsan Gugakdang. The official program includes a pansori workshop for foreign participants as well as an open stage where audience members can participate on site.

The official festival poster gives Exit 4 and about three minutes on foot, while the event page lists Exits 3 and 4 and approximately 350 meters, or five minutes.
3. Staying around Jamsil or Songpa? Seoul Baekje Museum Chuseok Festival
On September 26, Seoul Baekje Museum and Seoul Baekje Children’s Museum will hold a Chuseok event with performances, participatory activities and traditional games. Admission is free, and some activities use same-day on-site registration, so long waits may occur.

4. Staying in northeastern Seoul? Seoul Urban Life Museum Chuseok Cultural Events
If you are staying around Nowon or northeastern Seoul, the Seoul Urban Life Museum has a free Chuseok cultural event scheduled for the afternoon of September 26, with cultural performances and hands-on activities.

5. Near Gwanghwamun or Gyeonghuigung? Seoul Museum of History — Hangawi Hanmadang
The Seoul Museum of History is planning a Hangawi Hanmadang event for September 26 with traditional games, activities and performances. The official Seoul festival page still marks the event as planned, and detailed operating hours have not yet been published.

An easy way to plan the weekend
September 25 is a natural day to focus on the Namsangol area, where the Chuseok festival and World Pansori Festival overlap. On September 26, choose the event that works best with your accommodation or your next destination rather than crossing Seoul simply to collect another festival.
You do not need to leave an entire day empty just because it is Chuseok. Picking one event that is actually running that day can give your itinerary a clear destination—and let the holiday become part of the trip rather than an obstacle to it.
